Can you recommend a guide to how to do sudoku puzzles for someone totally perplexed by them?

My friends do them, but I get stuck even with the so-called 'easy' ones

    some people just dont have the mental capacity and mathematical interest in them.

    once i understood the rules, i didnt have a problem with them. ive tried explaining my techniques to others but they dont always work.

    what i do is an elimation process. sometimes ill scan the board and look for the number that appears the most. than ill go through the boxes and find one of the major boxes that is yet to have that number appaer. then you scan down the lines and find possible spaces where it could fit. then you can pencil those in lightly and keep going to finalize the position.
