Sudoku - how fast can you solve? What are the tricks? ?

December 31st, 2008

I was wondering how fast people can solve a medium level puzzle? I go onto websudoku and solve in about 8 minutes but apparently 60% of people are faster. ?? Does that sound accurate? How fast do you solve?

What are the tricks? Are there any good sites that give the tricks to being faster? I thought 8 minutes was pretty good.
I love the game:)

Practice. Seriously, the more puzzles you do the easier you will find them as you start to notice patterns.I usually take time but the fastes I could solve an average puzzle was about 5-mins.

There are various ways of finding out which numbers go where as well, ie there needs to be a 1 in each column and row. There needs to be a 1 in each square. 1 can't be repeated in any row, column or square. You often need to combine looking at all of the above to solve the puzzles. Occaisonally you may need to guess a choice between two numbers and play it out to see which number actually goes there (ie its only after you've filled in 4 or 5 squares afterwards that you can see if it worked or not).

Unfortunately there isn't a single easy trick to solve sudoku puzzles easily or quickly, but if you seriously want to improve your skills, perhaps buy a book or look for dedicated sites on the internet and as I said first - practice!

Hope this helps.
